The MetSuperCap (Metrology for Static and Dynamic Characterization of Supercapacitors) project is reaching its mid-term phase. All preliminary activities have been completed, and the project focuses on completing measurement datasets, developing supercapacitor models, and preparing advanced test benches.

MetSuperCap is interested in hearing stakeholders’ opinions and ideas to help define priorities and strengthen its impact. Share your thoughts with MetSuperCap using the contact form.

Stakeholder Committee

A Stakeholder Committee was created with 8 industrial participants, two universities and a research center. A stakeholder meeting was held on March 2025, and another is planned for December 3rd, 2025. The Test Plan of the project was presented in March to stakeholders. The discussion also addressed the test plan’s content, including a few necessary corrections.

The stakeholders’ feedback was acknowledged as useful, and the consortium modified the SC matrix to include the suggested sizes and types. If your organization would like to participate in the next stakeholder meeting, please contact us.

A New Paper Published on IEEE TIM

As part of the MetSuperCap consortium, researchers from INRIM, the Italian metrology Institute, analyzed how the accuracy of a supercapacitor equivalent circuit is influenced by measurement accuracy and measurement repeatability. The conclusions are reported in this paper published in February 2025: “Uncertainty Evaluation of a Supercapacitor Equivalent Circuit Parameters,” in IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement.
